Reporting directly to the Dean of GU-Q, the Chief of Staff will serve as a senior advisor of the Dean, contribute to the development and implementation of GU-Q’s overall strategy, and work closely with other senior leaders to streamline strategic priorities.Key Accountabilities:Oversee the effective and efficient operations of the Office of the Dean.Represent and act on behalf of the Dean at designated meetings or events with internal and external stakeholders.Contribute to the development and completion of priority initiatives and projects, in collaboration with members of the leadership teamRecognize issues, incidents, or concerns and determine which matters require executive-level intervention and which can be resolved by others.Key Activities:Work closely with the Dean and senior leadership to identify strategic priorities and provide advice on policies, procedures and operational matters of the University.Ensure key projects and initiatives are implemented through partnership and collaboration with appropriate individuals including, senior leadership, faculty, and staff, as well as external partners.Provide expert feedback to the Dean on strategic, operational, and tactical matters.Speak on behalf, and represent the Dean at meetings and events, as needed.Work with and help manage cross-functional and cross-divisional teams to deliver high-priority projects, programs, and initiatives.Ensure the Dean is briefed and prepared for meetings and events, and sufficiently informed of important matters affecting the Qatar campus.Identify and prioritize requests that require the direct involvement of the Dean.Work collaboratively across teams to develop communications for the Dean.Gather, review, and disseminate necessary information to appropriate faculty, staff, and senior leadership.Manage and oversee the work of staff in the Office of the Dean, including setting and reviewing performance goals as well as identifying training and development needs.Respond to inquiries and resolve issues on behalf of the Dean, as appropriate.Other similar duties, as assigned.Requirements:Master’s degree required.8+ years of relevant professional experience with a proven track record of managing staff and budgets.Experience interfacing with, supporting, and advising executive personnel.Demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of discretion and judgment.Ability to work with individuals from diverse cultures, influence at the highest levels, and work collaboratively across departments.Strong project management and problem-solving skills.Technical fluency to utilize higher education business solutions and to implement efficiencies across the functions of the office.Sound interpersonal and leadership skills.Knowledge and understanding of university operations is preferred.Excellent communication skills in English (Arabic preferred).Understanding of global higher education is preferred.The review of applications will begin on May 21, 2023 and candidates are encouraged to submit their materials prior to the deadline to ensure full consideration.Expatriate BenefitsGU-Q’s expatriate benefits package is highly competitive and includes fully-furnished housing, a monthly transportation and home leave travel allowance, health insurance (worldwide coverage), generous private school tuition support for accompanying children, and others.Relocation SupportMoving to a new country can be a significant endeavor and GU-Q is committed to providing comprehensive relocation support.
